A Trip to Blue Koi

June 15, 2016 by Joe DeYaeghere Leave a Comment

BlueKoiMidtown-350x175Blue Koi is a family owned spot serves up traditional Chinese in the historic west 39st District and in the new developed Mission Farms area.

Recently at a family lunch of 15 we took over this yummy locale and I had a sampling of the pan fried pork, shrimp and chicken dumplings along with some brown rice and their ‘awesome sauce’.

The spicy and sweet sauce was a great complement for the brown rice along with some Siracha of course since everything is better with Siracha.

If want to whip up this sauce at home here is a recipe that will get you dangerously close to their own.

Your very own ‘awesome sauce’

  • 1/2 cup plus 1 Tablespoon Thai Kitchen Sweet Chile Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Tamari or gluten-free soy sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon green onions, finely sliced The family had a great time, the staff was VERY accommodating and pleasant even going as far as making sure any to-go orders were entered at the right time to be fresh when getting back home.

Blue Koi LeawoodI did a quick survey and whether someone had noodles, pan fried dumplings or the giant lettuce wrap everyone walked away happy and up for coming back for the same dish or a new bite to try next time.
