Q39 creating competition level bar with addition of Jenn Tosatto
Starting July 5, there will be a new face behind the bar at Q39
Kansas City, Mo. (June 21, 2016) – Rob Magee is pleased to announce that the extremely talented and well-known Kansas City bartender, Jenn Tosatto, is taking over as bar manager at Q39 starting July 5. Tosatto will build a competition level bar to match its award-winning competition BBQ, as it prepares to expand the bar and restaurant at its original 39th Street location in September and open a second location in Overland Park in early 2017.
Tosatto is up for the challenge to elevate the Q39 bar experience. She will build the program by working with Chef Rob to coordinate cocktails, wine and beer with the flavors of Q39. The first step for Tosatto will be learning the menu, getting to know the bar staff and immersing herself in the high energy of Q39. She is starting to assemble and build the bar team now. She says she plans to have the new bar program in place soon for smooth execution when the additional bar and restaurant space opens this fall.
Tosatto’s bar program and the kitchen will go hand-in-hand, complementing each other and using house-made ingredients in the cocktails. Tosatto says she is playing with classic cocktails with classic techniques so all flavor profiles will pair well with barbeque.
Tosatto is well-known among the Kansas City bar scene. Her bartending experience in Kansas City began when she wanted to blend her passion for bartending with her passion for performing with a job at Bar Natasha. The only opening available was a bar back position and she took it, along with the stage, until she placed second in a bartending competition and Missy Koonce kicked her up to bartender. Tosatto worked with Ryan Maybee at Rieger Hotel Grill & Exchange and most recently, Dempsey’s Burger Pub. Tosatto now brings her bartending talent, competition level skills and passion to Q39.
Tosatto’s passion for cocktail culture extends beyond the bar. She is actively involved and has competed in the Paris of the Plains Cocktail Festival in recent years. Though Tosatto isn’t competing this year, she is on the board of Paris of the Plains, as well as coordinating her own bartending contest, Midwest Melee, where bartenders from four different cities come to compete. Her experience with bartending competition doesn’t stop there. Tosatto has competed in many bartending contests around the nation, receiving many awards and distinctions.
