We all love coffee and there are plenty of places around town to get a good cup of Joe. However, coffee can be beyond good and several coffee houses are crafting coffee excellence. KCFoodGuys.com is excited to launch a new series of articles that will spotlight the elite coffee houses in Kansas City.
Oddly Correct at 3940 Main KCMO 64111 is not your average coffee shop.
This is great coffee, the kind of coffee that is a perfect fusion of water and coffee bean. The wonders of chemistry and molecular science are served in a coffee mug or beaker. This isn’t the coffee flavored scorched water served at every mass appeal breakfast shop in town. One cup of this delight and you will be forced to rethink your coffee choices and realize how Oddly Correct has a national reputation as an elite coffee house. The shop serves three new coffees weekly, espresso drinks made with local whole milk and more style and brand that you can handle.
Oddly correct takes great care of customers in ways that are not customary. You will be served excellence. You will not be served cream or sweetener because those coffee crutches aren’t offered at Oddly Correct. If you cant handle the thought of a cup of coffee without your pink, yellow, or blue sweetener then this java house isn’t for you. Coffee at Oddly Correct is served room temperature and ready to drink. This is important to know because you have lived you entire adult life and always allowed fresh coffee to cool 10 minutes before you take a sip. No wait needed at Oddly Correct.
Owner Gregory Kolsto opened Oddly Correct on 2011 after working for Krispy Kreme where he bought beans for their coffee program. After Kolsto left the corporate scene he spent time with some local roasters before he opened his own coffee house.
Oddly Correct has many style and brand influences including the letter press artwork that adorns their shop and coffee bags. Also noteworthy is the perfectly placed location in the stark urban landscape at 39th and main.
The beaker coffee is a great way to enjoy coffee at Oddly Correct. The ultimate high pour presentation will send dine-in customers away with a beaker of coffee and mug on wood plank. Coffee isn’t quick or easy at Oddly Correct and first time patrons usually need to be coached through this unique coffee experience.
This quirky and sophisticated coffee dive serves the best cup of pour over coffee in Kansas City.
