I’ve been to the Corner Bakery Café a number of times now, usually for breakfast or lunch, but the other day my wife and I took the food monsters there for dinner. The food monsters wanted chocolate chip pancakes, a Corner Bakery specialty. Plus, every chocolate chip pancake order comes with bacon, which my kids won’t eat, so I must do my fatherly duties and devour it for them. I should note that The Corner Bakery Café has good bacon, as I’ve never had a bad piece yet there. Also the bakery has crayons and a menu to color and play with so the monsters are always properly entertained while waiting for the food to arrive.
Another great thing about the Corner Bakery is that they server Coke. So many places server Pepsi these days, I can’t stand that; please, KC eateries serve the real thing. Coke is it! Both my wife an I dig regular Coke so when we find a place that serves Coke it goes higher on our list of dining options.
Tonight, I order the Club Panini, and if you like Panini sandwiches, the Corner Bakery does theirs up right. The panini sandwiches at the Corner Bakery’s are perfectly toasted every time and filled with flavor. My wife ordered the Pesto Cavatappi (entrée size), which is huge and could have filled us both. The Pesto Cavatappi comes with grilled chicken mixed in and the entrée order could give you a nice second meal the next day.
As far as the actual bakery items go we tried the chocolate cupcakes. While small in stature they definitely made up for in taste. They were some of the best chocolate cupcakes I’ve had. My eye also noticed the iced cinnamon rolls in the display case. I didn’t have one, but… they sure looked like they were calling me to coming again.
