One of my favorite ways to start out the morning is in the Starbucks drive-thru. Evidently I’m not alone at the 135th & Briar location in Leawood. I thought the Leawood Barbies weren’t allowed to start their SUVs until after 8am on a weekday? Evidently Starbucks must be their first stop. No matter the morning the cars are stacked up at least eight deep and on heavy mornings I’ve seen as many as 18 in the drive-thru pushing the line out onto Briar St. Starbucks has master the consistency checkbox that all fast food chains strive to do, although Starbucks does it with a twist. Their food is of decent quality and their coffee drinks are the best. Now you’ll pay a pretty penny for this quality but when you’re gearing up for a full day at the office this may well be the best part your day.
I’ve never cared for the iced coffee’s or the latte’s, but I’m a sucker for the Grande White Chocolate Mocha. Keep your snide comments to yourself. When it comes to the morning Starbucks sandwiches I’ve tried my luck with a few of them and they’re all pretty good.
- Bacon & Gouda
- Double Smoked Bacon Cheddar & Egg
- Sausage, Egg, & Cheddar
- Spinach & Feta Wrap
My favorite is the Sausage, Egg, & Cheddar although the sausage patty doesn’t fit the bread size so you’re left with more bread than meat which is never a good situation. My other complaint is Starbucks puts these sandwiches in some type of nuclear microwave before they hand them out the drive-thru window. Be careful when you grab them as they will burn you right through the oversized paper bag they come in, have they learned nothing from MacDonalds lawsuits? Another great thing is Starbucks servers always serve you with a cheerful smile that actually seems authentic. I guess if I started off my day with triple shot espressos I might smile more too.
So if its been awhile since you’ve hit a Starbucks in the morning. Save up and splurge on a Starbucks coffee and breakfast sandwich and see what you think. Let us know your favorite.

Oh, I so agree! But Houston is suffering a shortage of the sausage, egg & cheddar sandwich! It’s early July 2015 and there are NONE of these sandwiches available! I’m normally at the W. Gray location in River Oaks (only because I work nearby), but I’ve also tried out in Tomball, and NO ONE has them. How the heck can Houston Starbucks’ not get the sausage sandwich?! I want my Sausage, Egg & Cheddar Starbucks sandwich! We need a revolution!
