KCFoodGuys Finals <— Our Bracket
Plowboys (2) vs Joe’s Kansas City (1): This was a close one folks and the biggest winner was us. Plowboys had impressed us taking out Jack Stack and had its eyes focused on the finals. It was going to take an amazing meal at Oklahoma Joe’s to win. So let’s get to meat of it. The ribs Joes served up were amazing the most amazing part of it was the amount of meat on those bones. I really didn’t think Plowboys ribs were going to get beat but Joe’s delivered literally perfect ribs with tons of meat on the bone. The taste was amazing and their was no need for sauce. Next came the burnt ends and Plowboys had delivered a perfect burnt end in Fred’s bowl. They weren’t all perfect but one happened to be the best ever. Heaven in a cube as I like to call them. Joe’s was serving burnt ends on a bun that day we visited. We ditched the bun and went for them straight up. Once again we were treated amazing situation a pile full of primo burnt ends. None of them took out the perfect burnt end Fred had at Plowboys but on the whole Joe’s pile of heavenly cubes won out. Next came the brisket and the brisket Z-Man we delivered was amazing. It was tight but Joe’s won on brisket as well. Lastly comes the pulled pork. It was close, but here Plowboys came out on top. Next came the sides and let us just say Joe’s & Plowboys brought the house. Amazing sides are to be had at both establishments. Walking in Joe’s really needed to serve up a perfect meal to advance and they did. Joe’s advances.
Q39 (1) vs S.L.A.P.’s (2): The Final Four is the best part of the tournament because we’re eating the best BBQ KC has to offer. Q39 stunned us last year by winning the whole thing as the new kid on the block. We figured they might slip some over time but if anything they’ve raised their game. Mean while S.L.A.P.’s stock has steadily risen over time and they are serving up some amazing bbq in KCK. When it comes to Ribs we can safely say our final four bracket has the best ribs in town. When it comes to Q39 & S.L.A.P.’s ribs they server up some serious chunks of tender meat. Both come off with KCBS 9 score for tenderness in my book. After having both we couldn’t pick a clear winner in the ribs category. When it comes to Burnt Ends Q39 is still serving up the best in town. The Burnt End is their specialty, make sure you order the burnt end appetizer if you can. When it comes to Brisket S.L.A.P.’s took that category both due to tenderness and taste. Pulled Pork goes to Q39. On the sides front S.L.A.P.’s takes 2 out of the 3 that we judged. Then we get to the sauce, S.L.A.P.’s has their own unique blends one sweet, and one hot. Not ruin your day hot, but a nice and tasty hot. Q39 has 3 of their own sauces; classic, honey, & zesty, all are amazing and we’ll go with the classic as the winner. At the end of the day you can’t go wrong going to either place but we have to give the nod to Q39. Q39 advances.
