KCFoodGuys Bracket Round 3 Results <— Our Bracket
Jack Stack BBQ (1) vs Smokin Guns (4): Smokin Guns served and amazing plate of food and incredible rib with great sides. They had a chance to pull off the upset but then our visit to Jack Stack happened. While the Smokin Guns rib beat my Jack Stack rib that was about it. Jack Stack brisket beat out the smokin guns brisket by a bit and when it came to side both are good but when it comes to bean and cheesy corn Jack Stack is still the standard by which everyone else’s sides are judged. Jack Stack advances.
Char Bar (3) vs Plowboys (2): This is the type of BBQ matchup which makes the judging the BBQ bracket so much fun. Two of KC’s newest BBQs battling it out. Both Char Bar & Plowboys raised our eyebrows and any city would be lucky to have them, but KC has them both. We were very satisfied with both visits, which made this a hard one to call. Our discussion went into overtime on this one but Plowboys wins out due to the tenderness of the brisket. Plowboys advances.
Joe’s Kansas City (1) vs Bare Bones Smokin (13): Bare Bones Smokin impressed us on our visit but even a good day with cinderella is no match for Joe’s Kansas City. Joe’s brings the goods once again and advances. Thank you to Bare Bones for serving a great plate of BBQ.
RJs Bob-Be-Que (6) vs Gates (2): This was a close one folks. RJs is no slouch and Gates sometimes isn’t always what it once was. We had a couple of meals at RJs that raised eyebrows in a good way. I know Randy will be a new regular. But our visit to Gates reminded us why their are so many locations across this town. It was all good up front but Gates started to pull away at the end with overall satisfaction. Gates advances. Great run RJs. We’ll move you up in the seeding next year.
Q39 (1) vs Tender Butts & Smoking Thighs(13): Tender Butts & Smokin Thigh is another cinderella that couldn’t match up against a 1 seed. Q39 takes this one but we were happy to find this little gem in Smithville with best name in the bracket for 2016. Q39 advances.
Danny Edwards (3) vs Arthur Bryants (2): Picking a winner here was extremely difficult. Both Danny & Arthur bring the goods when it comes to BBQ, but after our visits we have to give the nod to Arthur Bryant’s. Fred’s a sucker for that vinegar based sauce. Arthur advances.
LCs (1) vs Brobecks (4): Ham salad and good bbq can take you a ways in the KC BBQ Bracket but it can’t take you past LCs. LCs Ribs and burnt ends are able to handly beat out Brobecks. Now I wonder if LCs could do ham salad? LC’s is working hard to get back to the championship matchup once again this year. LCs advances.
Burnt Ends (3) vs S.L.A.P.’s (2): This was a close one folks….Burnt Ends has a lot going for it. Fast & friendly service, lots of sauce options with a Bold & Tasty sauce could win our best sauce of the tournament, with lots of BBQ and non-BBQ options. SLAPs ribs were in the top 3 and had 2 unique sauces which might be a big hit or miss depending on your BBQ palette. After plenty of discussion this one comes back to the tenderness of the ribs and brisket. S.L.A.P.s advances.

Joe’s and Jack Stack should not be on the same half of the bracket.
Never mind. Somebody fixed the bracket.
Bare Bones is some of the most AMAZING BBQ I’ve eaten.. Love it
I love LC’s, but lately the quality has been suspect. Still love their brisket sandwiches…Turkey is amazing too. Searching for a great northland bbq, I’ll have to head to Smithville and give butts and thighs a try.
